Direct Account Manager

The Direct Account Manager role is a strategic, commercially minded and relationship-led position within our Sales team.

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of digital advertising and the proven ability to develop client relationships in person and over the phone. You will be passionate, motivated and most importantly, you will strive to deliver the best digital solutions in the market.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • To grow and manage direct client relationships

  • To grow your network of direct client contacts and media agencies, where applicable

  • To create effective and bespoke account plans

  • Conduct regular client meetings with progress reports towards plan initiatives

  • Identify growth and product opportunities to meet revenue targets

  • While the ability to secure new business is desired, it is not a requirement in the first few years in the role

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous advertising sales with understanding of digital – at least 3 years

  • Knowledge of online advertising, the programmatic landscape, digital trends

  • Knowledge of the sales cycle and meeting sales targets

  • Ability to acquire new business from direct clients

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships at multiple levels

  • The ability to write strategic proposals that add value to your clients’ businesses

  • Utilise the WARC database for strategic input into proposals and for guideline case studies

  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize and be proactive

  • High-level written and spoken English

  • A proactive business nature – both for your client base and to assist Acquire Online’s growth

  • Exceptional client management skills with the ability to up-sell and build solid relationships

  • A current NZ work visa


  • Salary – Competitive salary with an annual review 1 April

  • Commission – up to $10,000 if sales targets are hit

Senior Ad Operations

In broad terms, our team is responsible for managing and optimising the programmatic ad inventory buying for many of New Zealand’s leading brands - and for achieving KPI’s for campaigns and campaign profitability.

About the Job

Breaking it down, it looks a bit like this:

  • You will have to work with management to understand our client’s requirements, then come-up with strategies to meet them

  • You will have to process a large volume of data and conduct detailed investigations into accuracy and integrity

  • You will need the ability to work on multiple DSPs and maintain accurate unified reporting for the same

  • You will need to be able to analyse data to identify trends and patterns and share the results through effective presentation (eg charts, graphs in excel or PowerPoint)

  • We’ll train you and grow your skill set on the job!

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing / Information Technology / Computer Science

  • A strong analytical mind with the ability to process information logically

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong data interpretation skills and the ability to work with numbers

  • Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data

  • Experience with DSPs / Ad Network / DMPs

  • The ability to develop strong client relationships and solid supplier partnerships

  • The will to constantly up-skill and keep abreast of changing technology

  • Familiarity with the Internet industry and online advertising sector is a plus
